Mentioned below is one of the easiest methods used for the preparation of eyeshadow. But before the use of this or any other method of making eyeshadow at home it must be kept in mind that if any of the ingredient used in the method smells bad to you then you must not use it and throw it away immediately. And if you know that you are allergic to any of the ingredient then you must never use it at any cost and replace it with something else.
The ingredients used in this method include:
Arrowroot powder and Shea Butter are used for base.
From the list of cocoa powder, nutmeg, dried beet powder, allspice and turmeric you could use the combination of any of these ingredients.
According to the method you should start with lesser amount of arrowroot powder such as ¼-1/2 tsp. As you will see that more amount of arrowroot powder will give you eyeshadow a lighter shade so it is much better to start with the above mentioned amount.
Mix completely and continuously after adding other ingredients in order to get the desired color. Add ¼-1/2 tsp of Shea butter after getting desired color. In order to mix Shea butter with your powder and get the shape of a proper creamy looking powder mix Shea butter with the back of your spoon. Use of Shea butter will provide buttery, moisturizing look to your eyeshadow. You can also use cornstarch in place of arrowroot if you feel that you are allergic to arrowroot. But if you sense no problem in using arrowroot then it is strongly recommended that you use arrowroot as it provides excellent results.
In order to add different colors to your eyeshadow use ingredients mentioned below:
- In order to gain light brown color for your shadow you should use half teaspoon of arrowroot powder along with one teaspoon of cocoa powder and ¼-1/2 teaspoon of Shea butter.
- If you want to create an eyeshadow of golden brown color then all you have to do is to use half teaspoon of arrowroot powder, ¾ teaspoon of nutmeg and ¼-1/2 teaspoon of turmeric and Shea butter.
- If you want to get mauve color then add half teaspoon of arrowroot powder, 3/4 teaspoon of allspice and dried beet powder and ¼ teaspoon of cocoa powder and Shea butter.
- And in order to get pale pink color just add half teaspoon of arrowroot powder and dried beet powder, then 1/8 teaspoon of cocoa powder and half teaspoon of Shea butter. You can also do further experimenting with the ingredients to get some other colors.
Another simple way through which you can easily make an eyeshadow at home includes the use of powder base, powder binder and mica pigment. You can easily find these things at any cosmetic store. If you want your eye shadow to take the form of a pressed powder then it is strongly recommended that you use powder binder as powder binder is used to stick the powder together. Now all you have to do is to simply grind the powder base and mica pigment and mix them. After pouring the mixture into a container you should spray it with powder binder. While blending and spraying you should keep it in mind that mixing and spraying the powder should be done according to your need. Wherever you find suitable you can stop the mixing and wherever you find suitable you can stop spraying the powder binder. At the end all you have to do is to settle it into an empty container and press it with the back side of a spoon in order to give it a proper shape of a pressed eyeshadow.
In order to follow this method you are going to need below mentioned things: empty eyeshadow pan, loose pigments, 91% rubbing alcohol, small sized spatula used for make-up, small piece of cotton cloth, heavy weight book, a quarter and small sized container.
Add 4 to 5 scoops of color pigments in your mixing container, then add about three quarters of rubbing alcohol in the pigment and mix it properly. Mix it until pigment feels thin but not runny thick. Pour the mixture into your clean and sterilized eyeshadow pan and let it settle and dry for an hour. After one hour when that mixture has dried, place the piece of cloth on top of it and press it with a quarter . Put the weight of a heavy book on top of it and leave it for 4 hours. After 4 hours your eyeshadow is ready.
